Villa Polo: A Harmonious Blend of Openness and Seclusion in Casablanca

Embracing Seclusion: An Urban Oasis in Casablanca
Architectural Vision: Crafting an Inner Sanctuary Amidst Urban Constraints
Nestled on a 250 square meter parcel of land within a bustling Casablanca residential zone, the Villa Polo emerged from a design challenge presented by its urban context. The architect, Driss Kettani, conceived a dwelling that would offer a profound sense of introspection and privacy, despite its proximity to neighboring structures and a north-facing street frontage. The fundamental design objective was to cultivate an 'inner world'—a space that seamlessly blends openness with an intimate, almost enigmatic atmosphere.
Overcoming Site Challenges: Strategic Design for Privacy and Light
The urban planning mandates significantly shaped the villa's overall configuration. With adjacent properties on both sides, the design cleverly oriented the main living areas towards a lush, south-facing garden. This strategic placement not only maximizes natural light and ventilation but also safeguards the residents' seclusion from the street and the surrounding homes. The result is a harmonious balance between the demands of urban living and the desire for a personal retreat, where every design decision contributes to the overarching theme of a hidden haven.
Structural Elegance: Concrete as a Canvas for Modern Living
Completed in 2024, the Villa Polo boasts a total area of 370 square meters, primarily constructed with robust concrete. This material choice provides both structural integrity and a contemporary aesthetic, allowing for the creation of clean lines and minimalist forms. The concrete framework, while seemingly unyielding, is meticulously crafted to define fluid interior spaces that transition effortlessly from one to another, reflecting the architect's commitment to both form and function. Manufacturers like Geberit, Hansgrohe, Strugal, and Knauf contributed to the villa's high-quality finishes and fittings.
Interior Harmony: Thoughtful Layouts for Enhanced Lifestyle
The interior design of the Villa Polo is a testament to meticulous planning, with each floor meticulously laid out to enhance daily living. The basement plan, ground floor plan, and first-floor plan reveal a logical progression of spaces, each designed to cater to specific needs while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic. From private quarters to communal areas, the flow is intuitive, promoting both relaxation and social interaction. The integration of wood elements throughout the interior adds warmth and texture, contrasting beautifully with the cool tones of concrete and fostering a welcoming ambiance.
Seamless Integration: Connecting Indoor and Outdoor Spaces
A defining characteristic of the Villa Polo is its thoughtful connection to the outdoors. The south-facing garden serves as an extension of the living space, blurring the boundaries between interior and exterior. Large openings and strategic fenestration allow natural light to flood the interiors, while also providing picturesque views of the landscaped surroundings. This seamless integration creates a dynamic living experience, where residents can enjoy the tranquility of their private garden from the comfort of their home, further reinforcing the concept of an urban sanctuary.
