Vesp House: A Multi-Generational Home Inspired by a Vespa Enthusiast

In the vibrant heart of Ho Chi Minh City, a unique residence named Vesp House has emerged, a testament to the evolving life story of its owner and the visionary design of Story Architecture. This 160 square meter dwelling, brought to life in 2025, beautifully intertwines the personal passion of a young man with the collective needs of his multi-generational family. It stands as a symbol of transition from individual exploration to shared domesticity, all while embracing a distinctive inspiration drawn from vintage Vespa scooters.
The Genesis of Vesp House: A Narrative of Design and Family
The Vesp House project was born from a conversation between a client, deeply fond of vintage Vespas and a seasoned traveler, and the architect. The client, anticipating marriage and a shift towards family life, expressed a desire for a home that would not only shelter his new family but also accommodate his parents, grandmother, and younger sister. This vision laid the foundation for a design that needed to be both personal and expansive. The architect, Nguyễn Kava, along with participating architects Trần lê Trung and Phạm Như Hà Giang, took on the challenge, with Bảo Lộc Construction bringing the blueprints to reality. Located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the project’s central inspiration unexpectedly stemmed from the client's master bedroom, which was conceived to reflect his passion and journey.
A Sanctuary for Generations
The core concept behind Vesp House was to craft a living environment that honored individual tastes while fostering communal harmony. The design cleverly integrates distinct personal spaces with shared areas, ensuring privacy and interaction in equal measure. This careful balance was crucial for a home housing multiple generations, each with their unique rhythms and needs. The architecture responds to the dynamic tropical climate of Vietnam, likely incorporating elements that promote natural ventilation and light, creating a comfortable and energy-efficient dwelling. The choice of materials, sourced from manufacturers like An Cường, Vietceramics, and Đông Phương Alu&Glass, suggests a focus on quality and local craftsmanship, adding character and durability to the structure.
Photography Captures the Essence
The visual narrative of Vesp House is beautifully captured by Quang Dam, whose photographs showcase the interplay of light, texture, and form within the residence. From exterior shots highlighting the house's integration into its urban context to intimate interior views of the dining room and living spaces, the imagery conveys a sense of warmth and modern elegance. These visuals not only document the architectural achievement but also the lived experience within its walls, inviting viewers to appreciate the thoughtful details and the overarching concept.
A Home That Evolves With Life's Journeys
The Vesp House project is more than just a structure; it's a living narrative that celebrates personal passions and the enduring bonds of family. It demonstrates how architectural design can adapt to significant life changes, transforming a bachelor's adventurous spirit into a foundation for a multi-generational sanctuary. The integration of the owner's love for vintage Vespas into the design process serves as a compelling reminder that the most inspiring architectural endeavors often stem from deeply personal stories and aspirations. This house stands as a testament to thoughtful design, creating a space where new memories can be forged while honoring a rich personal history.
